Canada

Canada has a remarkable diversity of forest coverage. From the tall Pine of British Columbia, to the temperate lowlands of Québec, Canada, Canada’s forests are home to many iconic plants and animals, and play an important role in supplying communities with food, water, and employment.

Reforestation Canada has planted trees across Four Canadian provinces. Our projects restore forests in the wake of major wildfires like those in British Columbia and repair damage caused by industry and resource extraction.

LATIN AMERICA

Some of the globe’s most important tropical forests can be found in Latin America. Despite this, the Amazon, Andes, and Atlantic forests face extreme deforestation as massive tracts are leveled for agriculture, livestock grazing, and timber.

One Tree Planted’s projects in Latin America are rebuilding forests and restoring land so the benefits of healthy tropical forests can be felt around the world. Our partners work with communities impacted by deforestation so they benefit from improved forest management practices and agricultural techniques like agroforestry. This also ensures the trees and land are taken care of for generations to come, and the forests can continue to thrive.

ASIA

About 20% of global forest coverage is found in Asia and the Pacific, and those forests are considered to be one of the most biologically diverse in the world. But Asia’s tropical rainforests are suffering from the world’s highest rates of deforestation brought on by wildfires, palm oil production, and illegal mining operations.

Planting trees across Asia is helping to rebuild the habitat of critically endangered species like orangutans, tigers, and more than 1,700 species of birds. These projects are creating jobs and providing sustainable, long-term income for communities so people and forests can live together in harmony.

AFRICA

Overall, some 21% of Africa’s tropical forest has been lost over the last century, and in some regions – West and East Africa in particular – deforestation has exceeded 80%. People in these regions often depend heavily on forests for their food, shelter, water, and livelihoods, making restoration of Africa’s forests an even more critical undertaking.

Our planting projects in Africa focus on rebuilding animal habitat, restoring soil and critical watersheds, all while improving the lives of the communities who rely on the forests the most. Our planting partners promote agroforestry and educate farmers on the benefits of improved forestry practices, providing communities with sustainable sources of food, wood, and income.
